Work For Your Share

CSA Workshare Program

Workshare Fruits and Vegetables Collection

A Workshare member is someone who commits to volunteering on the New Roots Farm 310 East 13800 South, Draper, UT 84020 and New Roots Redwood Market at 3005 Lester St, West Valley City, UT 84119 on a weekly basis for the duration of the season in lieu of paying for a CSA membership.

Workshare members commit to 4 hours per week for the duration of the CSA season, which will run for 17 weeks between June 19th and October 9th. In exchange for their hours, Workshare members will receive a full share, valued at $35.00, for every week that they work. Workshare membership is a vital volunteer opportunity, ensuring season-long support for a working, urban farm.

We will select up to 10 individuals to take part in our 2024 Workshare program. Applicants who are able to commit to the full 17 weeks will be given priority. Other factors that may be taken into consideration include:

  • Existing familiarity with and/or past volunteer work with New Roots or other farm-based programming.

  • Reliability and availability to work at the farm on a regular, weekly basis. We will give preference to applicants that are able to commit to the full 17-week season, but we also accept shorter, month-long commitments.

  • Financial limitations and whether the Workshare program is the only way an applicant would be able to participate in the CSA.

Is Workshare Right For Me?

Workshare Fruits and Vegetables

Workshare membership is more than just a volunteer opportunity, it is a season long commitment and a chance to become a working member of the farm.

Interested applicants must be able to perform hard physical labor, including lifting 50 lbs, squatting, bending for long periods of time, pulling and pushing. Workshare members need to be prepared to work outside in the sun or in inclement weather.

Our Workshare shifts are predetermined and we can offer limited flexibility. We ask that every Workshare member chooses to work one of the following shifts each week:

  • Tuesdays, 12pm to 4pm New Roots Farm, Draper

  • Wednesdays, 4 pm to 7 pm New Roots Redwood Farmers Market

Workshare members must give staff at least one weeks advance notice for any planned absences.

We ask that all interested applicants read the 2024 CSA Workshare Agreement below prior to applying.
